Higher Ed's Grim New Normal

Higher Ed's Grim New Normal

1/7/2025

notes

education is a constantly moving target. what to learn, how to learn it, where to learn it, how much to spend on it has always evolved and will continue.

sometimes the changes are a bit faster though and hard to keep up.

the trends are useful to know but i find the article is too focused on a preserving an existing model that likely needs to look much different than they are imagining.

as a society, we need a more clearer commitment to what we want from education. should it be affordable? should it be for everyone?

i think the 2 year community college funded by the state still has a lot of promise. but with the department of education's current leadership, that idea will have to wait yet again...
