summary

Dr. Sarah Halifax became famous for deciphering a message from space that first contact had come from aliens. Now, at age 87, life is drawing to a close for Sarah and her husband Don. They get an opportunity to undergo an experimental rejuvenation procedure known as a rollback, which could potentially make them young again. The price of the treatment is a Catch 22: deciphering, for the Aliens, a message in exchange for the treatment. The procedure is risky and expensive, requiring them to sell everything they have to afford it. When the treatment seems to work on Don but fails on Sarah, she is faced with a heart wrenching dilemma as she must watch her husband relive his youth while she continues to age. Rollback is a thought-provoking science fiction novel that raises questions about youth, aging, mortality, and the consequences of pursuing immortality.
