Life on Mars
notes
this book of poems included an appendix that gave context for a number of the poem titles. as much as poems are left to interpretation, i found the context enlightening, educational and increased my appreciation for some of my favorite ones.
in particular, the poem that sits with is 'they may love all that he has chosen and hate all that he has rejected'. in it, are an aggregation of short letters written by those who are reaching out to their murderers. each letter is short, surprising and full of hidden emotion for the killer, the reader and likely even the author.
