Frieren
notes
frieren starts where most fantasy story ends, allowing you to explore the journey after. in some ways, it's seemingly just another campaign (with many parallels to the one in the backstory). however, during the current adventure, the reflections of frieren feels like the true story being told. i found myself speeding through the "now" so i could go very slowly through the memories of frieren with her former adventurers.
the series (i read vol 1-6) is a quick read (with a number of upcoming chapters yet to be released). i orignally took on this adventure as a way to avoid a crunchy roll subscription, to spend time reflecting about longevity and to experiment with fresh perspectives. i didn't realize i would also be spending time in a DnD-like campaign and i eagerly await the next few volumes and for more stories to end with frieren being eaten by a mimic.
[update] vol 7-10 have been consumed by 2002/5 but i still want more. especially more mimic scenes...
