Mastering Data Layers in data platform | Medium
notes
i read this after having implemented this architecture with a teammate.
it's good to have some more background and context to these decisions, though i find the metaphor of the medals could use some re-working to help onboard non-technical folks (who are the end users of the gold layer).

summary
Data organizing principles are vital when we build the data platform to enable data maturity for the business. Data layers help to ensure that the data is organized in a way that is consistent, reliable, reduced data redundancy, agility and accessible. This makes it easier for businesses to use data to make informed decisions. The article further explores the concept of data layers in detail, explaining each layer and its purpose within a data platform architecture. It uses the analogy of a restaurant to illustrate how data flows through different layers, from raw ingredients to the final dish served to the customer. The article also discusses the importance of data governance, metadata, and data quality in building a successful data platform.
