Mostly Harmless

summary
If there’s anything more enjoyable than discovering a new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy novel, it's discovering one you haven't read before. Mostly Harmless, the fifth book in the trilogy (yes, you read that right), is another zany adventure featuring alien races with attention-span issues, a depressed robot, and enough bureaucratic incompetence to make a Vogon proud. It starts out when Arthur Dent decides he's had enough of Earth's destruction and opts to hitch a lift on a passing spacecraft. Things go awry from there, taking us on a rollercoaster ride of absurdity that has become a hallmark of Adams's writing. As with the other novels in the series, Mostly Harmless satirizes everything from modern technology to politics and even deals with some deep philosophical questions in a humorous and lighthearted way. While it's always sad to finish any great book, Mostly Harmless does end on a note of hope, leaving the reader with more smiles than tears.
