summary

In a small, isolated Chinese village, Chung Mae lives a simple life. That is until Air arrives and promises to revolutionize everything. Air is a new, cutting-edge technology that promises to connect everyone, everywhere, without the need for power lines, computers, or machines. But the initial testing of Air doesn't go according to plan, leaving several people dead. Despite this, Air is rapidly approaching Chung Mae's village, and she knows that her people need to be prepared for its arrival. Mae is the only person who knows how to harness Air, and she must convince her village of its importance before it's too late. But as Mae becomes more deeply involved with Air, she realizes its power is much greater than she ever could have imagined. Geoff Ryman's "Air: Or, Have Not Have" is a thought-provoking tale that explores the effects of technology on humanity and how it impacts the communities we belong to.
